This course focuses on the treatment of addiction within the context of the individual, family and group counseling.
Students will learn how to:
- Identify at least five group models
- Assess for client readiness for group
- Understand the dynamics for placing clients that honor culture and diversity
- Facilitators will be able to bring the group through the early stage of treatment, middle stage of treatment and the late stage of treatment
- Patterns of behavior to observe in group settings
- List ways that Group Leaders can choose to intervene in the group process
- Discover how Peer Leadership can be shared within the group, that helps to keep the group on task
